My Name is Palanda Johnson Gordon, I am the Granddaughter of Henry Payton SR. My Mother is Betty Payton. She is the Youngest Daughter of Henry Payton Sr. and Carrie Green Payton. Betty married Leroy Johnson March 10, 1960 and about six years later I was born, I am one of eight Children. Errol Tyrone(deceased), Selma, Marvin Cornelius(deceased), Mckenius, Tonja, Sharmea and Laquinta. This is my Second family tree website I begin working on the Johnson website in 2011 after the sudden death of My Father.
We are the Descendants of Ephraim Peyton, born August 27, 1755 in Amherst County, Virginia and died Abt. 1820 in Summer County, Tennessee. He married Elizabeth Jennings. She was born in 1759 in Amherst County, Virginia and died Abt. 1804 in Summer County, TN as well. They had five Children, Molly, John, Yelverton, William and Ann. William Peyton would be my great-great-great-great grandfather(4th). William married Barbara Rodgers of Gallatin County, Tennessee on November 26, 1806.From this Union William Carroll Peyton was born February 25, 1815. He was one of six childen. George Washington, Eliza, Elizabeth, Armstead Rogers, and Nancy. Barbara Rogers died in 1820 and in 1823 William married Mildred Thomas and to this union six children were born. James, John, Yelverton, Ephraim Hardy, Mary Ann and Marcus Thomas.
William Carroll married Elmira Jane Kennedy from North Carolina, they had nine children. George, James, Armstead, William C., William bailey, Bailey, Yelv, Eliza and Lillie. My Great Grandfather would be Bailey born Abt. 1855 in DeSota Parish, Lousiana.
Bailey (my great grandfather) married Julia Williams Cornett, daughter of Archie Cornett and Sallie Williams of Lousiana. To this Union My grandfather Henry Peyton was born August 23, 1884 in Keatchie, DeSota Parish Lousiana. I don't know exactly when but Henry later changed the spelling of his last name to Payton.
It's Fascinating Learning of my roots, It's unfortunate that I have never met a lot of my Relatives on the Payton side of the Family but I sure would like too.
